About
Wendy Rylance is an artist who invites the viewer to consider stories around the human condition and the environment in which we live.
After twenty-eight years as an urban Medical General Practitioner, while on sabbatical, she attended the Slade School of Art’s Alternative Foundation Course and was hooked; no going back. She went on to gain a First-class BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Conceptual) at her local University of Wolverhampton. During this period, she also underwent Ministerial Training. The combination of urban General Practice, ordained rural parish ministry and Conceptual Art has shaped Wendy’s perception of our world.
While still practicing medicine, Wendy was a member of the Medical Art Society, exhibiting at the Mall Galleries in London and as a member of the Bridgnorth Art Society, exhibited locally. Wendy joined the Alveley Art Group when she became the Associate Minister to that parish.
Since moving with her husband from Shropshire to Cornwall, to be near their sons’ families, Wendy completed the Porthmeor Programme at the St Ives School of Painting in 2023 to develop her practice. She now belongs to artist groups including Miscellany and Prime Women Artists.
